Gervonta Davis Arrested After Two-Week Manhunt

Gervonta Davis is now in police custody.

The boxing star was arrested two weeks after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Authorities confirmed his apprehension following a multi-day surveillance operation.

Miami Gardens police worked alongside the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force. The operation covered three counties before Davis was located and taken into custody.

The warrant was first issued on January 15.

It relates to an incident that allegedly took place in October. Davis is facing charges of battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping.

Police say the case involves an altercation with an ex-partner at a gentlemen’s club. The woman, who is also suing Davis in civil court, claims she was assaulted during the incident.

According to court documents, she alleges that Davis grabbed her by the back of the head and pulled her hair. She also claims he held her by the throat while attempting to restrain her.

Authorities say Davis tried to prevent the woman from leaving the location against her will.

Police outlined the charges in an official statement.

“As a result of the diligent work of our special victims unit, an arrest warrant has been issued for Gervonta Bryant Davis,” the statement said. “The charges include battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping.”

Officials added that Davis used force to restrain the alleged victim.

Following the warrant, police confirmed they were actively searching for Davis. That search ended two weeks later with his arrest.

The legal issues come during a difficult period in Davis’s boxing career.

He has not fought since a controversial draw with Lamont Roach. The bout took place in March 2025. Davis retained his lightweight title, despite widespread debate over a missed knockdown call.

Since then, Davis has remained inactive.

That inactivity, combined with his legal situation, has already had consequences. The World Boxing Association recently stripped Davis of his lightweight title.

WBA president Gilberto Mendoza confirmed the decision. Davis was reclassified as “champion in recess” due to his inability to defend the belt.

Davis, who holds a professional record of 30 wins, no losses, and one draw, will be allowed to present his case to the WBA before a final ruling is made.

For now, however, boxing matters are secondary.

With serious criminal charges pending, Gervonta Davis faces an uncertain future. His next fight will not take place in the ring.
