Vietnamese Leader To Lam to Visit Phnom Penh for High-Level Indochina Talks

Vietnam’s General Secretary To Lam is scheduled to visit Phnom Penh next week, leading a high-level delegation for a series of diplomatic meetings aimed at strengthening cooperation between Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, officials said.

The state visit, made at the invitation of King Norodom Sihamoni, will begin on February 6, according to a statement released by Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The visit underscores deepening political and strategic ties among the Indochina neighbours.

During his stay, To Lam is expected to take part in three major high-level engagements. These include an official state audience with King Norodom Sihamoni, focused on reinforcing bilateral friendship and sovereignty.

He will also co-chair an inter-party meeting with Cambodian People’s Party President Hun Sen, bringing together senior leaders from the Communist Party of Vietnam and the CPP to discuss party-to-party cooperation.

In addition, To Lam will attend a trilateral leadership meeting involving the heads of the ruling parties of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, aimed at aligning regional policies and security priorities.

The talks come amid growing economic integration in the Mekong sub-region, with discussions expected to cover cross-border infrastructure, trade cooperation, and shared political objectives among the three long-standing allies.
