Cambodia’s Top Duty Is to Protect Its People and Sovereignty, PM Says
The prime minister of Cambodia has declared that the foremost duty of the Royal Government is to safeguard its people and defend the country’s territorial integrity.
In remarks responding to a recent military incursion by Thai forces, he emphasized that protecting the nation’s sovereignty and ensuring the safety of Cambodian citizens are the government’s highest priorities.
He noted that history has seen Cambodia lose significant territory through invasions, war, and annexations — making today’s commitment to preserving current borders even more critical.
The prime minister explained that while Cambodia seeks peaceful, diplomatic solutions, it will not hesitate to defend its sovereign territory if necessary.
He called on citizens to unite in support of the national defence effort, stressing that national unity and solidarity remain essential as the country stands firm on its sovereign rights.
