Thai Military Bombardment on Cambodia: 12 Dead, 74 Injured Amid Escalating Border Conflict

The death toll from Thai military airstrikes and artillery bombardments on Cambodia’s border region has risen to 12 civilians killed and 74 injured. The attacks, which began on December 7, 2025, have displaced over 400,000 people, with many seeking refuge in safer parts of Cambodia.

The Thai military used heavy artillery and airstrikes to target civilian areas near the border, particularly in Samrong District and around Preah Vihear Temple. On December 15, at least three artillery attacks hit civilian settlements, causing widespread damage.

Cambodian officials condemned the attacks as violations of international law, calling for Thailand to be held accountable. Cambodian Minister Neth Pheaktra urged the United Nations and ASEAN to intervene and help stop the aggression.

“This is a direct assault on our sovereignty and our people,” said Minister Pheaktra. “We demand an immediate ceasefire and international action.”

As the violence continues, the humanitarian crisis deepens. Aid agencies are struggling to provide basic necessities to the growing number of displaced individuals.
