Poker Face” Cancelled at Peacock After Two Seasons — Creator Eyes Revival with New Star

The mystery series Poker Face, created by Rian Johnson for Peacock and starring Natasha Lyonne as charmer-sleuth Charlie Cale, will not continue on Peacock beyond its second season.

However, the end of the run on Peacock may not mean the end for the show altogether. Johnson and the production team are in active talks to shift the series to a new platform, with plans that include a major change in its starring role.

Why the Shift?

Despite strong critical reception and a sizable fan-base, Poker Face on Peacock will conclude its tenure after season 2. Some of the keys:

  • Natasha Lyonne, who plays the central role of Charlie Cale, is stepping away from the series’ front-line role. According to sources, she will remain involved as executive producer.
  • The show’s creator, Rian Johnson, is seeking a fresh two-season commitment from a new distributor and envisions recasting the lead role — with Peter Dinklage reportedly set to take over.

What This Means for the Series

We’re seeing a transformation in the life of the show:

  • The core character of Charlie Cale remains, but her performer is poised to change — which signals a re-imagining rather than a direct continuation.
  • The production is looking for what would effectively be a “clean break” from Peacock, enabling new creative direction.
  • For fans, the show may very well live on — but in a different format and possibly on a different platform.

A Few Things to Know

  • Poker Face originally debuted on Peacock in January 2023, with its second season concluding in mid-2025.
  • The series was notable for its “case-of-the-week” format, where Charlie travels and solves a new mystery each episode — a structure championed by Johnson.
  • At the same time, the second-season finale leaves open opportunities for the story to continue in new form.
