Bayern Legend? Kane’s Reputation Grows in Germany as Contract Talks Start

When Harry Kane joined Bayern Munich in 2023, the assumption was that his stay would be brief — a successful spell abroad before a return to the Premier League and a shot at Alan Shearer’s scoring record.

Two seasons on, that narrative has shifted.

Bayern’s head of sport, Max Eberl, has confirmed the club are in talks with Kane over extending his contract beyond its current 2027 expiry, a move that reflects how highly the England captain is now regarded in Germany.

“We are speaking with Harry,” Eberl said this week, striking a confident tone as Bayern look to secure the future of one of the Bundesliga’s most prolific forwards.

Kane’s impact has been immediate and historic. Since arriving in Munich, he has scored 119 goals in 126 appearances and leads all Bundesliga players for goals in that period. This season, he is also closing in on Robert Lewandowski’s single-season league record of 41 goals.

While Kane’s contract includes a release clause that could allow a summer move, Bayern are unconcerned. Internally, there is growing belief that Kane is open to extending his stay, helped by his comfort in Munich and the stability his family has found in the city.

Beyond the numbers, Kane is widely respected within the squad for his leadership, professionalism and all-round game. He has avoided controversy, integrated quickly, and become a central figure both on and off the pitch.

With Bayern eight points clear at the top of the Bundesliga and firmly targeting Champions League success, Kane’s focus remains on trophies rather than records. If he stays, his legacy in Germany may extend far beyond a short-term spell — and into club legend territory.
