Kelsey Grammer Reveals Motion-Capture Beast in “Avengers: Doomsday”
Kelsey Grammer is returning as Hank McCoy, aka Beast, in Avengers: Doomsday, and this time, he’ll be brought to life using motion-capture technology. Known for his previous portrayals of the character in X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past, Grammer discussed how the motion-capture process allows for a more dynamic and lifelike Beast.
“It’s better,” Grammer shared. “The character is more alive and expressive with motion capture.” This modern approach promises a Beast that is both true to his essence and enhanced by cutting-edge technology.

X-Men Crossovers and New Dynamics
Grammer also teased his interactions with other X-Men favorites, including Cyclops (James Marsden) and Mystique (Rebecca Romijn). The reunion with Marsden, who had minimal screen time in X-Men: The Last Stand, is a highlight. “It was nice to see him alive,” Grammer joked about their shared screen moments.
He also praised Romijn as “magnificent,” signaling that their on-screen chemistry will be as strong as ever.
A Passionate Return to Beast
For Grammer, playing Beast is more than just a role. “I’ve always seen him as the Martin Luther King of the mutant generation,” he said, citing Beast’s advocacy for equality and justice. His connection to the character is clear, and he expressed a desire to continue playing Beast beyond Avengers: Doomsday. “I hope I’m not done with him. He’s wonderful.”
