Erick Visconde Dominates Ilias Bulaid as DWCS Season 10 Finale Delivers Four UFC Contracts
Erick Visconde delivered a commanding performance against previously undefeated Ilias Bulaid in the main event of Dana White’s Contender Series Season 10 finale, earning a unanimous decision victory at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas on October 13, 2026. Despite the dominant win, Visconde did not receive a UFC contract, while four other fighters secured opportunities to join the promotion.

The final episode of the 2026 Contender Series season featured five bouts, with prospects competing for the attention of UFC CEO Dana White and the promotion’s matchmaking team. The event also featured Smilla Sundell, Aline Pereira, Luis Francischinelli, Douglas da Lapa, Davi Cabral, Greg Foster, and Jason Asher.
Erick Visconde Outclasses Ilias Bulaid
The featherweight main event brought together two fighters with impressive records entering the contest. Bulaid arrived with an undefeated 9-0 record, while Visconde entered the matchup riding a four-fight winning streak.
Visconde established control early by repeatedly taking the fight to the ground. His grappling proved to be the defining factor, limiting Bulaid’s opportunities to establish his striking and build momentum.
Bulaid struggled to prevent the takedowns and found himself spending extended periods defending from the bottom. Although he managed to avoid being finished, he could not generate enough offense to change the direction of the contest.
The judges scored the fight 30-27 for Visconde across all three scorecards, confirming a unanimous decision victory.
However, the result did not guarantee Visconde a place on the UFC roster. After the fight, he revealed that he had broken his hand during the second round, an injury that affected his ability to attack effectively.
Dana White ultimately decided not to offer Visconde a contract. While the performance demonstrated his wrestling and positional control, the UFC boss indicated that the Brazilian had not delivered the kind of showing needed to secure an immediate opportunity.
The decision highlighted the difficult nature of the Contender Series, where winning is only part of the challenge. Fighters must also demonstrate the finishing ability, aggression, or overall potential that convinces the UFC to invest in their careers.
Smilla Sundell Earns a UFC Contract
Smilla Sundell secured one of the night’s most significant victories by defeating Aline Pereira via unanimous decision in the co-main event.
The former ONE Championship Muay Thai champion entered the bout with a 2-0 professional MMA record. Despite her limited experience in mixed martial arts, Sundell displayed effective striking, forward pressure, and consistent activity throughout the contest.
Pereira, the sister of former UFC champion Alex Pereira, hoped to earn her own opportunity in the promotion. However, Sundell proved difficult to overcome, using her striking background to control exchanges and accumulate points.
All three judges scored the contest 29-28 in Sundell’s favor.
Her victory marked another step in a promising transition from elite striking competition to MMA. Sundell is only 21 years old, but her experience in Muay Thai has already provided a strong foundation for her developing career.
White initially expressed reservations about offering her a UFC contract because of her age and limited experience in MMA. Nevertheless, after discussions with his team, Sundell received the opportunity to join the promotion.
The result gives her a chance to develop against increasingly challenging opponents while continuing to build her all-around game.
Luis Francischinelli Scores a First-Round Knockout
Luis Francischinelli produced one of the evening’s most decisive performances by stopping Will Rentz in the first round.
The Brazilian welterweight used his significant height and reach advantages to create problems for Rentz. Standing approximately 6-foot-6, Francischinelli presented a difficult target and possessed the physical tools to control exchanges at range.
Rentz attempted to close the distance and bring the fight to the ground, but Francischinelli demonstrated the ability to escape scrambles and return to his feet.
Once the action returned to striking range, Francischinelli capitalized on an opening with a short left hand that dropped his opponent. He followed up with additional punches on the ground, forcing the referee to stop the contest at 2:18 of the opening round.
The emphatic finish helped Francischinelli make a strong impression on White and earn a UFC contract.
Douglas da Lapa Finishes Davi Cabral
Douglas da Lapa also secured a contract after stopping Davi Cabral in their all-Brazilian matchup.
Both fighters entered the contest undefeated, creating additional interest in a bout that offered an opportunity to establish momentum against a fellow prospect.
Cabral had demonstrated finishing ability during his early professional career, while da Lapa had also built an unbeaten record. Their matchup therefore represented an important test for both competitors.
Da Lapa eventually used his size and power to take control. After two rounds of competition, he finished Cabral with punches just 19 seconds into the third round.
The stoppage provided another clear statement for the UFC decision-makers and earned da Lapa a place on the roster.
Greg Foster Wins Competitive Opening Bout
Greg Foster opened the event with a unanimous decision victory over Jason Asher in a competitive lightweight contest.
Foster maintained a demanding pace and pressured Asher throughout the fight. Asher responded with effective offense of his own, including a spinning backfist that dropped Foster during the contest.
Despite that moment, Foster continued pressing forward and accumulated enough scoring opportunities to secure the decision. The judges returned identical 29-28 scorecards in his favor.
Asher attempted to rally in the third round, including by securing a takedown and working from the top position. However, his late effort was not enough to overcome Foster’s overall performance.
Foster earned the victory but did not receive a UFC contract.

The finale brought the season’s total to 46 UFC contracts, tying the show’s record. For the successful prospects, the results marked the beginning of a new chapter. For those who missed out, the event demonstrated that strong performances do not always guarantee immediate entry into the world’s leading MMA promotion.
