Winning both categories in the same year made Rhys the first performer to receive lead acting Emmys for two different programs in the same ceremony. His achievement became even more significant because of his earlier Emmy win for The Americans in the drama category.
With those victories combined, Rhys became the first male performer to win lead acting Emmys across drama, comedy and limited-series categories.

Smart’s achievement makes her the first performer to win an acting Emmy for every season of the same series. Her latest trophy also brought her total number of acting Emmy wins to eight, placing her alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Cloris Leachman among the performers with the most acting victories in Emmy history.
The win was particularly meaningful because Hacks concluded its run earlier in 2026 after five seasons. Smart’s performance as legendary comedian Deborah Vance had been central to the show’s success, and her latest Emmy provided a fitting conclusion to that awards run.
The Pitt Wins Drama Series Again
While Widow’s Bay dominated the comedy categories, The Pitt continued its impressive Emmy run in drama.
The HBO Max medical drama won Outstanding Drama Series for the second consecutive year. Noah Wyle also repeated his victory for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his performance as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch.
The achievement placed The Pitt among a select group of dramas capable of winning the top series award in consecutive seasons. Wyle’s repeat victory similarly marked a rare achievement for a leading dramatic performance.
Other major drama acting winners included Rhea Seehorn, who received her first Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress for Pluribus. Allison Janney won Outstanding Supporting Actress for The Diplomat, while Tom Pelphrey took home Outstanding Supporting Actor for Task.

The evening also featured a special honor for Michael J. Fox, who received the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award for his philanthropic work and advocacy related to Parkinson’s disease research.
