Los Angeles — A 22-year-old aspiring singer has been identified as the victim of an “ambush-style” shooting that occurred early Saturday morning in the Northridge neighborhood. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the dead woman was Maria De La Rosa, who was riding in a parked car with two others when she was gunned down.

What Happened

  • The shooting took place at approximately 1:25 a.m. on Saturday, in the area of Bryant Street east of Tampa Avenue.

  • Maria De La Rosa was rushed to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The two other occupants suffered injuries; their current condition is unknown.

Who She Was

Under the stage name DELAROSA, she had recently released her first single, No Me Llames (Spanish for “Don’t Call Me”), in August. Her final social media post suggested she was busy recording new music and preparing further releases.

Her growing fan base and rising online presence made her death all the more shocking for those who had been following her journey.

Investigation and Unanswered Questions

At this point, the motive for the shooting remains unclear, and no arrests have been made. Police have not publicly identified any suspects, and it is not known whether the crime was random or targeted

The LAPD’s Valley Bureau Homicide Division is leading the investigation. They are asking anyone with information to come forward.
